On March 31, 2020, the Government of Equatorial Guinea announced the extension of the measures to protect the population against the spread of COVID-19.
According to the statement of the Prime Minister of the Government of Equatorial Guinea, Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, published in the Equatorial Guinea’s Press and Information Office, these new measures are implemented taking into account the gradual increase in positive cases in Equatorial Guinea.
According to the investigations carried out by the Technical Committee for Response and Surveillance of the New Coronavirus, some of those infected have circulated in different districts nationwide and have had contact with local inhabitants.
The main measures announced are detailed below:
• The movement of vehicles and people between districts is suspended until April 15, that is, all districts of the Continental Region are quarantined, prohibiting the movement or exchange of flows of people and vehicles from a district to another. This measure is effective as of Friday, April 3.
• It is emphasized that all clothing stores, of various materials, supermarkets, grocery stores, pharmacies, hairdressers, electrical appliance stores, household goods and utensils must remain open during a time not exceeding 8:00 p.m.
• The restaurants and dining rooms, which offer prepared food service, should close at 9:00 p.m.
