Bids are open until 28 May 2027, a long-dated entry point into the Gulf of Guinea.
Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH) has launched Cameroon’s 2026 Bid Round. It offers six exploration blocks across three basins, all with 2D seismic coverage.
Blocks on offer
- Ndian River and Bakassi, in the Rio del Rey Basin.
- Kombe-Nsepe and Bomono, in the Douala/Kribi-Campo Basin.
- Zina and Makary, in the Logone Birni Basin.
Timeline
Bids are open until 28 May 2027, with results expected in June 2027.
Regional context
The Rio del Rey and Douala/Kribi-Campo blocks sit close to acreage active in neighbouring markets. These include Equatorial Guinea’s Yoyo-Yolanda gas project, which straddles the maritime border. Our recent coverage of Equatorial Guinea’s gas position, including the Yoyo-Yolanda unitisation with Cameroon, is relevant background for bidders looking at the coastal basins.
What this means for clients
For operators and investors, the round is a long-dated entry point into the Gulf of Guinea. The timeline leaves room to assess seismic data, fiscal terms and the regional gas picture before bidding.
With a bid deadline in May 2027, there is time to run a structured evaluation. That would include a review of the available 2D seismic, a study of the fiscal and contractual terms that SNH publishes for the round, and an assessment of how cross-border arrangements in neighbouring blocks could affect development options. Prospective bidders should also consider early whether to bid alone or with partners, since partnering terms are easier to settle before the bid deadline than after results. Lechêne, Iñiguez & Partners can support bid-stage diligence and contract structuring.
